ORANGE COUNTY SOFTBALL HALL OF FAME

MEGAN BUSH,  SS, CANYON,   2004-07

Megan was a four-year starter at Canyon at 3B and SS. She posted a career BA of .425, while hitting .528 and  .528 adding ten home runs as a senior.  In 2007 she made 2nd team Hs All-American, 1st team All- State, was Century League Player of the Year, and Canyon Female Athlete of the Year.  Megan won All-CIF honors as a junior and senior, and was 1st team All-League as well as 1st Team All Orange County 3x each.  Away from the diamond, Megan carried a 3.5+ GPA, and was a nominee to the Congressional Youth Conference in 2005-06.   Moving on to Florida, she excelled from the start, earning All-Conference 1st team as a freshman.   Megan earned All-Academic SEC, region, and district honors as a sophomore and junior.  Her senior year was capped by 1st team All-America honors, leading the NCAA with 80 RBIs, and making the top ten in 5 other categories as well.  Megan holds Florida and conference career records in home runs, total bases, and sac flies.  She was a top-ten finalist for USA Softball’s Player of the Year. 

 

JANIE TAKEDA, OF, EL DORADO, 2008-11

At El Dorado Janie won El Dorado’s Female Athlete of the Year award as a senior, having held a career batting average of .465 and an on-base pct of 503.   She was 4x All-Century League, and as a senior won League co-MVP as well   as an All-State and All-County 1st teamer. Janie then went on to Oregon U., carrying a 3.17 GPA all through her graduation in 2015.  Her college career saw her achieve 3X All-American, with a final college career batting average of .392 along with a slugging percentage of .520.  As a senior she was awarded   OU’s Jackson Award as their top senior female athlete.  Janie holds four career records at Oregon-- hits, runs, doubles, a stolen bases.  Away from the field, she was active in community service at Mt. Pisgah  actively restoring the mountain’s trees.   After graduation Janie became a member of Team USA, participating in the 2020 Olympics and winning a silver medal.  Her numbers there included a BA of .329 & a slugging percentage of .401.  

 

    AUTUMN CHAMPION, OF, FOOTHILL 2000-03 

Autumn had an outstanding career at Foothill, in which she led her team to four league championships, and CIF, state and national championships in 2000.  She had a career batting average of .430 with on-base pct of .462.  Autumn was 3x MVP in the Century League MVP as well as All CIF, capped by 1st team All- State in 2002.  Then she moved on to U of Arizona where she immediately made a splash, winning 1st team All American each of her first two years.  She went on to a achieve a 4th best U of Arizona career BA of .416 with 76 stolen bases and 193 runs scored.  Autumn led the entire USA in 2004 with a .489 BA and led the Wildcats to the NCAA World Series Championship in 2006,

 

STACEY NELSON, P LOS ALAMITOS 2002-05

At Los Al, Stacey set school records for career shutouts and single season strikeouts, while the Griffins won four straight Sunset League titles.  In postseason, her teams were 2003   quarterfinalists and 2004 runners-up.   Stacey was named team MVP in 2004 & 2005, and All-Orange County twice.   She was also named 2005 League Pitcher of the Year as well as Los Al’s Female Athlete of the Year.  She went on to achieve a great career at Florida, where Stacey won All-American honors three times and was also one of 3 finalists for 2009 College Player of the Year.  Her lifetime stats for the Gators included career numbers of 136-36 Won & Lost, an under-one ERA, and 80 career shutouts.

 

 ROBYN YORKE, OF, MARINA, 1990-93

Robyn’s high school career saw her twice named to All-OC  1st team, and then to Cal-Hi All-State as a senior.   Her final batting averages were sky-high at .532 to win league MVP as a junior and then .603 to lead the Vikings to a league title as a senior. Robyn was twice participating in the US Olympic Festival before moving on to Fresno State.  There she won All-American honors all four years with a career BA of .435.  She also shined in the classroom, being named 3 times as an Academic All-American as well as a Fresno State scholar athlete.  Following graduation in 1997, Robyn became a NCAA Post-grad Scholarship recipient and was nominated for NCAA Woman of the Year.

 

CHRISTINA CLARK, SS, MATER DEI, 1999-2002

Christina was a four-time winner of both All-OC and All-CIF honors, as well as twice being named to All State during her high school career at Mater Dei. She held a career batting average of .376 for the   Monarchs, as well as having been named twice as Sierra League MVP.  Moving on to Fresno State, she broke in with a bang with her freshman award of All-American, just the first of FOUR such honors.  Additionally, she won Conference Player of the Year three Times, and still holds School & Conference career records in four categories.   To top it off, Christina currently ranks among the top twelve NCAA career record holders in five Categories.   In 2003, she was selected for the USA Junior Team which then won a silver medal, and then in the fall joined the USA Pan American team winning the gold medal.

 

SUSAN CHURCHWELL, P, EL TORO, 1996-99

           Susan twice won both All-County and All-CIF honors pitching for El Toro, along with achieving a CIF title.  A top student, she graduated #4 in her senior class before moving on to UC Davis, where she had an outstanding career in the circle, leading Davis to three conference championships as she earned All-West Region honors each year.  Along the way Susan won the Lindley Award for performance as Davis’ premier scholar athlete.  Her senior year she won All-American honors, including academic All-American as well.  Also, Susan was awarded the California State NCAA Woman of the Year and named a finalist for the national award.  UC Davis named her as an Outstanding Senior for 2005, culminating in her election to their Athletic Hall of Fame. 

 

JODIE LEGASPI, IF, PACIFICA, 1999-2002

Jodie’s senior season capped her outstanding career at Pacifica as she batted .533 while driving in 30 runs while scoring 35 and led the Mariners to state #1 honors.  She had earlier been selected for the Junior National team while winning honors as California All State as well as a HS All-American.  Over Jodie’s final three seasons as a Mariner, she scored 102 runs and drove in 70 more on the way to three straight league titles.  She then continued on to UCLA, immediately helping the Bruins to win an NCAA title in 2004 and Pac Ten title in 2006.  Her college career numbers at UCLA included a .342 BA, 43 home runs, 156 RBI, and 128 runs scored, and ranks in UCLA’s career top ten in HRs and walks. 

 

LEEANN GONZALEZ, P, FOOTHILL 1989-92

After leading the Knights to a Century League championship in 1990, Leeann put her arm into high gear for her next two seasons at Foothill.  Both years she earned League MVP as well as All- CIF and All-OC 1st team honors while pitching the Knights first to CIF runners-up and then to the CIF Championship, hurling seven no-hitters which included two perfect games.   In 1992 she was named as Foothill’s team MVP, along with 1st team All-State and Coca-Cola Prep Foundation MVP as well.   Leeann’s stats for those two seasons included a won-lost record of 45-8 with 368 strikeouts and only 45 walks.  She still holds the career record at Foothill with 688 Ks.

 

BRANDEE McARTHUR, P, VILLA PARK 1992-95

Brandee was a dominant force in the circle for the Spartans during her entire high school career.  She earned 1st team honors every year, All-OC her last three years, and All-CIF her final two. Brandee was also team MVP every year and had an ERA under one as well.  In 1995 she was selected and played for the USA in the Junior World Olympics as USA won the Gold.  Then at the University of Pacific, she continued on to become one of the most dominate pitchers in Tiger history.  In 1996, 98, and 99 Brandee won All-Region, and in 1999 won 1st Team All-American and also named NFCA Player of the Year.    Her continued excellence at Pacific resulted in her eventual 2013 induction into UOP’s Athletic Hall of Fame. 

 

AUBREE MUNRO, C, BREA, 2009-12

Aubree had a fabulous career at Brea HS, where she carried a .370 s slugging percentage, and .470 on base, while leading her team in doubles and home runs. But even more so she displayed outstanding defensive skills a s catcher, with a career fielding pct of .960. But as a senior she moved to shortstop to help her team, demonstrating amazing versatility. In her graduating class of 2012 nationally, Aubree was rated #7 among catchers and was listed as the #42 recruit of her class. She was a four-year academic scholar athlete while twice being named to All County as well as All CIF and of course All-Century League. Moving on to Florida, she became team captain as a freshman, and displayed her dominant catching skills, showing perfection throughout her four years there. She was All-academic in the SEC conference and was once named to the College World Series All Tourney team.

 

MIKE WILLEY, COACH. SAVANNA HS 2000-2020

Coach Willey took his Savanna softball team to the playoffs 19 of his twenty seasons, including several appearances in the finalist rounds.  Before retiring in 2020, his teams had won fifteen league championships, once posting a 78-game winning streak over a nine-year span - record setting in both OC and CIF-SS. Coach Willey has a career softball coaching record of 396-150-1 along with several Coach of the Year awards.  His softball leadership in OC has included helping to keep the Barber Park Senior All Star game alive throughout the past two decades.
